Tippecanoe Man Arrested On Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

WARSAW — A Tippecanoe man was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop.
Bill Ja Hackworth, 44, 3309 18B Road, Tippecanoe, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 felony; possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor; and possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances, a level 4 felony.
On Aug. 29, an Indiana State Police trooper was patrolling on SR 15 in Warsaw when he noticed a vehicle with an expired registration and pulled it over. Troopers identified Hackworth as a passenger in the vehicle and determined he had a warrant for his arrest.
According to court documents, when Hackworth exited the vehicle, officers noticed a bag containing 8.3 grams of meth on the front passenger’s seat. Troopers also found drug paraphernalia. Hackworth said the drugs and paraphernalia belonged to him.
Hackworth was previously convicted of dealing meth in Marshall County in December 2018.
Hackworth has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance.
