Sleep In Heavenly Peace Hosting Build Day Nov. 8

NORTH WEBSTER — The Milford, Wawasee and Lakeland (North Webster) Kiwanis clubs are planning a Sleep In Heavenly Peace build project from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 8, in North Webster.
Sleep In Heavenly Peace is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that builds beds for children. There are approximately 2,200 children in Kosciusko County who are with out proper sleeping conditions. It costs $250 per bed to build, provide mattresses and bedding.
“We are planning to build 30 beds. The project is in need of funds for the build,” said Becky Alles, Milford Kiwanis secretary.
A $1,000 sponsorship provides for a complete set for four children. A $500 sponsorship provides for twin bunk beds and bedding.
People can donate volunteer shirts or be a breakfast sponsor. Any donation is appreciated.

Volunteering is open to anyone who wants to participate. The Kiwanis clubs are facilitating and planning the event.
Sponsorship deadline is Friday, Oct. 10. Volunteer deadline is Friday, Oct. 17 to get a T-shirt.
“I have had some firsthand experience with families who found themselves in the position of not being able to provide proper sleeping conditions for their children. As Van Buren Township Trustee between 2013 and 2022, I approved township assistance funds for this purpose and/or referred families to a program that could help them,” said Alles.
