Syracuse Man Arrested For Allegedly Driving While Under The Influence

SYRACUSE — A Syracuse man was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence and refusing to identify himself to law enforcement.
Michael Anthony Ott, 51, 608 S. Poplar Drive, Syracuse, is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and refusal to identify self, both class C misdemeanors; and operating a vehicle with an ACE of 0.08 or more with a prior conviction, a level 6 felony.
On Sept. 7, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling on SR 13, south of Lake Wawasee, when he noticed a speeding vehicle drive left of center and pulled the driver over. Syracuse Police officers also arrived at the scene to assist.
According to court documents, the vehicle’s driver, identified as Ott, refused to comply and was agitated. Officers noticed physical signs of intoxication from Ott, who refused to identify himself or provide law enforcement with his driver’s license.
Ott failed one field sobriety test and refused to participate in additional testing. He tested 0.22% BrAC on a portable breath test.
Ott was previously convicted of OWI in Kosciusko County in January.
Ott was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 7.
