Five Parkview Hospitals Recognized With Quality, Accountability Awards
News Release
FORT WAYNE — Five Parkview hospitals have been recognized as top performers in the 2025 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Ranking by Vizient Inc.
Parkview Regional Medical Center, Parkview Huntington Hospital, Parkview Whitley Hospital, Parkview Noble Hospital and Parkview LaGrange Hospital all received the Birnbaum Quality and Accountability Award this year. Noble, Huntington and Whitley were honored among small community hospitals, LaGrange was recognized as a critical access hospital and PRMC was awarded for its pediatrics care.
Parkview Noble has been recognized for four consecutive years; Huntington for three consecutive years; and Whitley for the third time in the last four years. PRMC and LaGrange were recognized by Vizient for the first time since 2022.
“Achieving and maintaining the highest levels of quality and safety for our patients requires the attention, focus and contributions of all of our caregivers,” said Dr. Jeffrey Boord, chief quality and safety officer for Parkview Health. “Parkview’s efforts to effectively use technology; collect, analyze and act on data; and encourage and respond to safety event reports all work together to create a robust culture of safety that prioritizes the well-being of both our patients and our co-workers.”
Honorees are recognized for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality care based on the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study, conducted annually since 2005. This year, 1,220 participating hospitals were segmented into seven cohorts for the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study. The study measures performance on the quality of patient care in six domains: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and variation in care.
The study factors in measures from the Vizient Clinical Data Base and includes performance data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network. The recognition period is for work spanning July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.
“Whether our patients enter the doors of our hospital in Columbia City or Warsaw, they can expect to receive the high-quality care and excellent experience provided by Parkview,” said Scott Gabriel, market president for Parkview Health Northwest. “We’re proud to be recognized once again by Vizient for delivering the quality care our patients need close to home.”
