Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:
- 5:34 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, North CR 450E, Warsaw. Drivers: Jessica Bumgardner, 41, East CR 100S. Pierceton; and, Kolt Kyler, 17, East CR 750E, Pierceton. Bumgardner was driving north on CR 450E. Bumgardner observed Kyler’s vehicle over the crest and was unable to avoid hitting Kyler’s vehicle. Bumgardner sustained injuries to her right leg and right arm. She was transported to Lutheran Fort Wayne Hospital. Kyler sustained lacerations and an injury to his right leg. Kyler was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Two passengers in Kyler’s vehicle, Klay Kyler, 14, Pierceton, sustained an injury to his right leg; and Holden Bradford, 17, Warsaw, sustained injuries to his ribs and right arm/wrists. Both passengers were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Damages are estimated up to $50,000.
Fulton County
Officers with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 5:48 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, North SR 17 and West CR 475N, Rochester. Driver: Caleb Howard, 25, Rochester. Howard’s vehicle hit a deer.
- 2:35 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 4555 N. SR 25, Rochester. Driver: Dale VanMeter, 55, Rochester. VanMeter’s vehicle hit a deer.
- 10:06 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, North US 31 and East CR 100N, Rochester. Driver: Lucas Bollenbacher, 19, Wakarusa. No information provided.
- 7:36 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 4578 N. 500W, Rochester. Driver: Jennifer Overmyer, 43, Rochester. Overmyer’s vehicle hit a deer.
- 2:16 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, West 18th Street and Sweetgum Road, Rochester. Drivers: Alyssa Haines, 21, Silver Lake; and Gabriel Benninghoff, 23, Kewanna. A rear-end collision occurred.
- 6:21 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 100 block East 7th Street, Rochester. Drivers: Ronald McDonald, 58, Richmond; and Steven Wagner, 33, Rochester. McDonald’s vehicle hit Wagner’s in a business parking lot. Wagner was later arrested for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Marshall County
Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 11:23 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, SR 17 and Sycamore Road, Plymouth. Driver: Dave Thompson, 74. Thompson’s vehicle left the roadway, entering a ditch and tree line. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
- 6:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, US 31 and SR 10, Argos. Drivers: Joshua Brett, 47, Shoals; and Daniel Chamberlin, 41, Plymouth. Brett attempted to cross northbound traffic but failed to yield to traffic and was hit by Chamberlin’s vehicle. There were a total of three occupants in Brett’s vehicle, who were tall taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend in serious, life-threatening condition. Chamberlin was taken to Plymouth Hospital for additional care.
- 7:52 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, US 6, east of Dogwood Road, Bremen. Drivers: Joseph Yates, 68, Louisiana; and Leah Dumph, 32, Nappanee. Yates’ vehicle crossed the centerline, hitting Dumph’s vehicle. Both Yates and Dumph, and a child in Dumph’s vehicle, were injured and taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.
