Warsaw Man Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Nurse At Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital

WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a nurse.
Robert Keith Powell, 35, 524 E. Center St., Warsaw, is charged with battery against a public safety official, a level 6 felony.
At approximately 11:15 p.m. on Aug. 30, Warsaw Police officers located a semi-conscious male on the ground at the Deluxe Inn, located in Warsaw.Â
Emergency medical services arrived and transported the man, identified as Powell, to Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital.
At approximately 12:44 a.m. Aug. 31, Kosciusko County Dispatch advised that Powell battered a nurse at the hospital.Â
Police spoke with a LKH nurse, who said she performed the duties in the scope of her profession on Powell, who inappropriately grabbed her, called her a racial slur and spit on her.
A police officer attempted to speak with Powell but learned his blood alcohol level was .457%. Powell was unable to speak or stand on his own at that time. Once Powell calmed down, officers left the hospital.
At approximately 4:55 a.m. Aug. 31, Kosciusko County Dispatch advised that Powell, who was still at the hospital, was completely nude and shaking his genitals at people. Police arrived and were told that Powell refused to follow hospital staff’s requests.
Powell has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance.
