BREMEN — More information has been released on the arrest of a Bremen man who allegedly murdered a Milford woman.
Justin Michael Brown, 37, 510 Hope Blvd., Bremen, is charged with murder, a felony.
Around 3:47 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call from a person residing on Jute Road in Bremen. The person said a man was banging on his door, stating he was stabbed.
According to court documents, officers went to the scene and spoke with the man, identified as Brown, who said he had been stabbed and that he stabbed a woman at 1467 Jute Road. He also told police he and the woman had both been using illegal drugs and that the woman used a knife to threaten him.
Officers went to the residence and noticed signs of forced entry at the home’s front door. They found a woman, identified as Elizabeth B. Hite, 46, Milford, with significant wounds to her face and body. She also appeared to have defensive wounds to her upper and lower arms. Hite was pronounced dead at the scene.
While in the home, officers noticed drug items.
At one point, Brown made a statement that he stabbed his girlfriend multiple times. He also said he had injuries to his right hand and believed he had been stabbed. Brown was later taken to a local hospital for treatment. Medical personnel determined Brown had a dislocated shoulder, broken bones in his right hand, lacerations to his right hand, and scratches to his back. Brown had no stab wounds on his body.
Upon searching Brown’s vehicle, which was at the residence, officers found a black knife that appeared to have blood on its blade.
After being released from the hospital, Brown was interviewed by police. Brown said he and Hite used drugs together and alleged that Hite got paranoid of the “shadow people” and pulled a knife on him. He took the knife from her and stabbed her, but said he could not recall where he stabbed her and how many times he stabbed her.
An autopsy revealed Hite sustained multiple stab and slash wounds, with severe trauma to her left neck area. Hair believed to be Brown’s was also located in Hite’s hands.
Brown was booked in the Marshall County Jail on Sept. 9.
