News Release
FORT WAYNE — On Wednesday, Sept. 10, the Fort Wayne Trails staff presented New Haven Parks and Recreation Parks Director Nick Goranson with a check for $12,000.
“As an advocacy organization, we often communicate directly with trail users, granting us a unique ‘wheels on the ground’ perspective of what is happening on the trails, said Director of Community Engagement James Holm. “We have had many conversations about the potential for these boardwalks to be slippery when wet, and it has been many years since they have been pressure-washed.”
These funds will be used for maintenance, including pressure washing and board replacement on all of the boardwalks under New Haven management, over 1,680 linear feet.
“FWT is pleased to provide these maintenance dollars to continue helping keep the trails safe and accessible for all,” said Executive Director Kent Castleman. “Small projects like this really make an impact on usability and show we are listening to trail users who alert us of maintenance needs.”
Created in January 2011, Fort Wayne Trails, Inc. is an advocate for a safe, accessible trail system that improves quality of life in Allen County, Indiana. There are currently over 152 miles of trails in the Allen County community.
