Jason Ray Allen, 50, 102 N. Merkle St., North Manchester, is charged with operating a motor vehicle after forfeiture of license for life, a level 5 felony.
On Aug. 8, a Kosciusko County deputy was patrolling the area near Detroit Street and Fort Wayne Street in Warsaw when he observed a red Ford Mustang and discovered that the registered owner of the vehicle had a driving status of habitual traffic violator for life.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Allen, who provided an Indiana identification card. Kosciusko County Dispatch confirmed that Allen’s driving status was that of habitual traffic violator for life.
Allen told the deputy that his parole officer in South Bend recently gave him specialized driving privileges from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. However, Allen was unable to provide the deputy with specialized driving privilege paperwork.
Allen was convicted of operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator, a class D felony in Wabash County on Aug. 14, 2014, and his driving privileges were suspended for life on Sept. 12, 2014.
Allen has already been arrested and released on bond. He has a change of plea hearing at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Kosciusko Superior Court Three.
