WARSAW — A Warsaw man who recently graduated from the Kosciusko County Jail Chemical Addiction Program will serve a six-year sentence locally on two cases.
Ridley Lee Brown, 45, 502 Oldfather St., Warsaw, was charged with resisting law enforcement with a prior conviction, a level 5 felony; and possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony. Five additional criminal charges and a separate theft case were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Brown was sentenced in Kosciusko Superior Court One on Thursday, Sept. 4.
For resisting law enforcement, Kosciusko Superior Court One Judge Karin McGrath sentenced Brown to five years in the Indiana Department of Correction. Brown also received a one-year DOC sentence for meth possession, with the entirety of that sentence suspended on probation. Both sentences will be served back-to-back.
Brown has a total of 263 days of jail time credit.
McGrath said she had no objection to Brown serving the executed portion of his sentence through the Kosciusko County Work Release Program. She said she would consider community corrections and re-entry court as future possibilities for Brown.
At sentencing, Defense Attorney Rama Sobhani said Brown was a lifelong drug addict who had been incarcerated for an extensive period of time and had recently completed JCAP. Brown graduated from JCAP on Aug. 15.
One of Brown’s family members, along with JCAP Coordinator Casey Trombley and Kosciusko County Recovery Program Resource Navigator Shanna Wallen, attended the sentencing in support of Brown.
“He’s serious about not being an addict anymore,” said Sobhani.
Defense Attorney Tyler Haines, who served as Brown’s counsel in the resisting law enforcement case, said Brown took “every opportunity, every step in jail to be a better person.”
Brown apologized for his actions in court.
“I’ve come a long way and have a long way to go,” said Brown. “I will do whatever it takes.”
“I can’t tell you how many people sit here alone … some families give up,” said McGrath. “But you have people here who believe in you and that says a lot. I hope this is the end of your criminal behavior.”
Affidavit Information
On Aug. 11, 2024, a Warsaw Police officer saw Brown fail to stop at a stop sign and cut off another vehicle. A pursuit began, reaching speeds of 115 mph. During the pursuit, Brown disregarded a red light and continued to flee after stop sticks were deployed and hit all four of his vehicle’s tires.
Brown has a prior conviction for resisting law enforcement.
In February 2025, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy went to Brown’s residence to serve a warrant. Upon searching the home, officers found a smoking device that tested positive for meth.
