ANDERSON — Anderson University has announced a tuition freeze for traditional and transfer undergraduate students effective for the 2026-27 academic year. The move is a step to ensure students can manage costs, while pursuing a Christ-centered education.
Additionally, this locked rate applies to both in-state and out-of-state students, because AU doesn’t practice separate rates for Hoosiers and out-of-state families seeking an Anderson University education.
“This is a bold and necessary step for our students,” said President Scott Moats. “We understand the need to manage costs. We want our students and families to feel confident in AU’s affordability and accessibility as they enter into or continue on in their AU education.”
In June, Indiana’s public universities joined together to announce a tuition freeze, a move supported by Gov. Mike Braun to help families manage the rising cost of higher education.
Already boasting one of the more competitive tuition rates in the state, Anderson University continues to prioritize a student’s ability to manage costs through scholarships and financial aid. For the 2025-26 academic year, Anderson’s undergraduate tuition is set at $37,600, positioning the university below several peer private institutions in Indiana — including Butler, DePauw, Goshen, Franklin, Earlham, Wabash, and Taylor — where tuition ranges from approximately $40,000 to more than $60,000 per year. The rate will be locked in for all returning and incoming students for 2026-27.
“We recognize the sacrifices that students and their families make to be in a position to invest in higher education,” said Scott Cagnet, vice president for admissions and athletics. “By making the decision to freeze tuition, Anderson University is demonstrating that we are listening and we are committed to preserving access to higher education so that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and discover who they are meant to be without the burden of navigating rising costs.”
“Anderson University stands among the most financially accessible private universities in Indiana — delivering a high-quality education at a more affordable cost than many peer institutions,” said President Scott Moats. “Beyond the sticker price, AU is also a competitive option for Indiana families considering public universities. This tuition freeze is a tangible expression of our mission to serve and encourage our students. By freezing the cost of tuition, we aim to provide families with peace of mind as they plan for the year ahead, and we hope this step will further open the door to an Anderson education.”
The tuition freeze applies to both incoming undergraduate students for August 2026 and current students returning for the 2026-2027 academic year to continue their studies.
This fall, the university will actively review adult, online, and graduate rates as part of standard business practice, and there is nothing to release at this time. Learn more about financial aid and scholarship opportunities at anderson.edu.
