Jonathon Wayne Calloway
WARSAW — A Kokomo man was arrested for allegedly spitting on a Warsaw firefighter while being trespassed from Walmart.
Jonathon Wayne Calloway, 23, Kokomo, is charged with battery to a public safety official, a level 6 felony; criminal trespass, a class A misdemeanor; and public intoxication, a class B misdemeanor.
On Aug. 16, Warsaw Police officers responded to a report of an intoxicated person refusing to leave Walmart. The person was later identified as Calloway.
According to court documents, an employee said Calloway was not wearing shoes and attempted to pay for items at a self-checkout when his card was declined. The employee told police Calloway didn’t make sense when he spoke, telling the employee he owned the store. Calloway was told multiple times to leave, and he refused to do so. He admitted he was drunk and officers noticed he smelled of alcohol.
While in a police vehicle, Calloway started to bang his head against a window and said he wouldn’t stop until medical personnel arrived. As he was placed into an ambulance, Calloway began acting erratically and didn’t follow commands. At one point, he purposely spit in a Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory firefighter’s face.
Calloway has already been arrested and released on bond. He has an initial hearing at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, in Kosciusko Superior Court Three.
