Area Police Reports
Elkhart County
Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following incidents:
- 2:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 71000 block CR 9, Nappanee. Leroy Hochstetler reported the theft of an outboard motor from a boat he had for sale near the road.
- 7:41 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 72000 block Joseph Drive, New Paris. Police were notified of a battery that occurred. The victim received minor injuries. The other party was arrested.
- 9:38 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, US 6 and SR 15. Patrick Reilly reported his 2013 Chevrolet Impala had been hit by an unknown white truck with a flatbed. The other driver left the scene.
- 6:36 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 57000 block CR 29, Syracuse. Police were notified of a violation of a protection order.
Fulton County
Officers with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following incidents:
- 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, SR 19 and CR 100N, Akron. Police stopped a vehicle after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign and stopped in the middle of the roadway.
- 6:08 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 9100 block Sycamore Bend, Rochester. A property owner reported he purchased land and installed cameras. He reported there has been trespassing occurring. The last people were seen were an hour ago. A description was given to police.
- 9:11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 7700 block SR 17, Kewanna. Police were notified that cattle were out at an address in that area. It did not look like any one is home.
- 1:05 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2000 block Sweetgum Road, Rochester. A person came on station to report fraud.
- 9:20 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 1500 block SR 19, Akron. Two dogs and livestock were reported loose, but not in the roadway at this time. The caller was not sure if the owners were currently at home.
- 1:52 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 1400 block East Ninth Street, Rochester. A woman wanted to report a physical assault between herself and another individual. The property owner is unsure if he wants to pursue residential entry charges on the other person.
- 10:05 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 1900 block CR 500N, Rochester. A resident returned home and the car he had parked in his driveway was gone. It was a 2005 Mercury Mariner. The owner had just purchased it within the last week.
- 6:14 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 1400 block SR 19, Akron. Police were notified of an animal attacking other animals in the area, the neighbors were afraid to let kids out in the yard due to the dogs being out.
- 5:06 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 3100 block CR 150E, Rochester. A resident called to report when he woke up he found his 2018 Jeep Compass was gone. The vehicle was found at CR 650S and Millark Road with front end damage.
- 5:24 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 800 block Monarch Lane, Rochester. A possible stolen vehicle was found.
- 2:34 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 800 block Monarch Lane, Rochester, a 2013 Jeep Wrangler was reported stolen by a teenager.
- 2:47 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 4300 block McCarty Lane, Rochester. Two puppies were found in a yard.
- 9:32 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, South Birch Lane and Erie Drive, Rochester. A 2-year-old child was found in the middle of the roadway. The caller reported she started knocking on a door and the child followed her and walked into the house. The caller said she yelled for an adult and nobody came to the door. The child then came back out with some toys and was sitting in the middle of the road again. Police took custody of the child.
- 7:05 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 500 block West Fifth Street, Rochester. Police were notified of a dog tied up to a picnic table that has been barking for the last two hours. The caller doesn’t believe anyone is home and the dog is unable to move as it is tangled up. The owner was located and told authorities she will have someone take the dog inside the home as she is not at this time.
Goshen
Officers with the Goshen Police Department investigated the following incident:
- 1:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 1900 block Lincolnway East, Goshen. Verda Bontrager, Millersburg, reported personal items were taken from her vehicle while it was parked.
