News Release
INDIANA — Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution is attempting to locate family members of Indiana’s nearly 1,500 World War II military personnel missing in action for an upcoming Bricks of Honor Dedication and Ceremony.
The event will take place on Sept 2, 2026, the 81st anniversary of the signing of the Japanese surrender ending World War II. Each brick will be inscribed with the name of an MIA, their branch of service, rank, and date of loss, and will be placed at the base of the Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Monument in downtown Indianapolis next to those honoring Korean War and Vietnam War MIAs.
If you have a World War II MIA in your family or know of someone who does, contact Joan Shoup, Historian of the William Tuffs Chapter NSDAR, (615) 812-6039 and she will direct individuals on who to contact within their county.
Contact will be made with the family members to invite them to attend the dedication. There will be no cost for the family for the bricks or to attend the ceremony.
