Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident reports:
- 10:42 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, US 30 and SR 13. Drivers: Anthony M. Felke, 26, Michigan Road, Plymouth; Diana K. Fjeld, 49, Mud Creek Road, Indianapolis; and Illon E. Davis, 26, South First Street, Pierceton. Felke was eastbound on US 30 and did not realize the light was red. When he saw Fjeld’s vehicle in the intersection he hit the brakes but was unable to stop, hitting the front center of Fjeld’s vehicle, which overturned and slid into the front of Davis’ vehicle. Fjeld complained of pain to the neck and suffered abrasions to the forearm and elbow, a passenger in Fjeld’s vehicle, Kendall J. Fjeld, 12, Mud Creek Road, Indianapolis, complained of pain to the elbow/lower arm. Davis complained of pain to the neck. All three were transported to a hospital. Damage was estimated up to $50,000.
- 2:47 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, CR 300E and CR 175N, Warsaw. Drivers: Cortez Simmons Jr., 70, North Cedar Avenue, Wood Dale, Ill.; and Kristopher W. Leasure. 36, Rozella Road, Warsaw. Simmons stopped at the intersection and did not observe any other vehicles and began to make a left turn when he saw Leasure’s vehicle. Simmons said he did not have time to get out of the way, causing Leasure’s vehicle to hit the driver’s side rear of his vehicle. A passenger in Simmons’ vehicle, Marcia Simmons, 79, North Cedar Avenue, Wood Dale, Ill., complained of pain to the arm and shoulder but refused medical treatment at the scene. Damage was estimated up to $25,000.
- 5:08 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, SR 15, north of CR 1300S, Silver Lake. Driver: Shaofeng Huang, 50, Carlisle Lane, Franklin, Tenn. Hit deer. Damage up to $25,000.
- 1:55 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, SR 25 and West Crystal Lake Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Dewei Zhao, 46, The Canyons, Douglasville, Ga.; and Joanna Nunez, 30, South Meadow Drive, Warsaw. Zhao was stopped at the intersection going east waiting to turn right and said he did not strike any vehicles. He said the Nunez vehicle hit his vehicle and Nunez said she was OK and he could leave. Nunez stated she was stopped at the intersection and arrived there before Zhao’s vehicle and it was her turn to go, when she began to go south she saw Zhao begin to drive and hit her vehicle in the area of the passenger side front. Damage was up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 7:10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, US 30 east of SR 15. Driver: Sarah E. Parr, 63, Pebble Lane, Colliers, W. Va. Parr was driving a semitractor/trailer westbound on US 30 in the construction area when another semitractor/trailer started to merge into her lane of travel, causing her to drive on the shoulder and colliding with a guard rail at the top of the hill. Damage up to $25,000.
