Manure Applicators Invited to Free Certification Event: ‘Manure: Farm to Field’

LIGONIER — Manure applicators and ag professionals are invited to attend the upcoming “Manure: Farm to Field” program from 3-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Ligonier Public Library, 300 S. Main St., Ligonier. This event provides a valuable opportunity to meet Category 14 (Cat 14) certification needs and receive PARP and CCH credits — free of charge, due to the support from Indiana Corn & Soy covering the PARP fee.
This educational session is tailored to applicators with PARP certification and anyone looking to better understand the proper use of manure as fertilizer — from regulation to field application.
Event highlights include: Understand state rules and regulatory expectations for manure application, learn record-keeping practices and equipment requirements, gain hands-on experience with nutrient calculations and resources for testing manure and field needs.
Garrett Creason, OISC, will speak at 3 p.m. on regulatory overview and real-world incidents. He will be followed at 4 p.m. by David Beard on the topic of equipment, record keeping and rules. Kathryn Jennings, Agriculture and Natural Resources – Animal production Extension Educator Purdue Extension Elkhart County will talk on Nutrient calculations.
