MILFORD — School may be starting and summer may be drawing to a close, but the party hasn’t stopped in downtown Milford. Food Truck Friday is going on tonight, Friday, Aug. 8.
Organizers from Meet Milford, the nonprofit that arranges Food Truck Friday each month from June to October, decided to end the summer season with a dance party hosted by DJ Vinnie V. Downtown streets are lined with food trucks and corn hole games, with upbeat tunes blasting for all to hear. Local organizations like Milford Chapel and L.I.T.E. Recovery are handing out tropical-themed goodie bags, leis and other prizes.
A dunk tank, filled up earlier by one Milford Volunteer Fire Department’s trucks, is available to play with proceeds going toward Milford Collective.
“Our mission is to connect our community to area resources,” explained organizer Karena Wilkinson. Programming like the Senior Social and new Seniors Move fitness class now offered at the Milford Community Building, as well as the kids’ programming that takes place at Harvest Coffee, is organized by Milford Collective.
Milford Elementary School music and art teacher, Peg Zimmerman, volunteered herself to let some of her students plunge her into the tank before school starts next week.
The festivities and opportunity to support local free programming continues until 8 p.m.
