Columbia City Man Facing 11 Felony Theft Counts

COLUMBIA CITY — A Columbia City man is facing 11 felony counts of theft after allegedly not completing construction work for clients.
Daniel B. Cochran, 44, 609 W. Columbia Parkway, is charged with the counts, with one being a Level 5 felony and the rest Level 6 felonies. He also has two counts of corrupt business influence, both Level 5 felonies.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a Whitley County Sheriff’s Office detective investigated multiple cases involving Cochran’s company, DC Home Exteriors LLC.
Cochran’s company signed contracts with 11 individuals or couples in which he took down payments from them and then never completed the work.
The amounts Cochran took for down payments ranged from $2,000 to $62,584, with the full amount he allegedly stole totaling $148,052.58.
Cochran was booked into the Whitley County Jail on Aug. 8 on a $50,000 surety and cash bond.
