Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 1:48 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, CR 300W, south of CR 700N, Leesburg. Driver: Elsa M. Moralas-Pico, 36 East Berry Street, Fort Wayne. Moralas-Pico’s vehicle was northbound when she lost control of the vehicle on the gravel road, slid sideways hitting a NIPSCO pole before coming to rest facing southbound in the roadway. Moralas-Pico complained of pain to the head and was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital. A passenger, Juan C. Moralas-Picco, 18, East Berry Street, Fort Wayne, complained of back pain and was taken to a Warsaw hospital. Damage up to $50,000.
- 8:02 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, CR 500N east of EMS T8 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Nancy C. Swope, 85, East Kiser Lake Drive, North Webster. Hit deer. Damage up to $10,000.
- 4:33 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, CR 650N, west of EMS T49 Lane, Syracuse. Drivers: Brenden M. Dilley, 22, East CR 900N, Syracuse; and Sandra L. Lilly, 75, East CR 650N, Syracuse. Dilly was eastbound on CR 650N when Lilly’s vehicle entered into the path of Dilly’s vehicle. Dilly’s vehicle hit the Lilly vehicle in the area of the front center. After impact Dilly’s vehicle continued east through the yard at a residence before coming to a stop. Dilly was thrown from the vehicle and landed near a mailbox. Lilly stated she never saw Dilly’s vehicle prior to turning. Dilly suffered serious injuries to his chest and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Lilly suffered injuries to her face, arms and leg and taken to Goshen Hospital. Damage up to $50,000.
- 12:33 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, CR 1250N and CR 100E, Milford. Driver: Joshua A. Hornish, 40, Lehman Drive, Milford. Hornish stated as he approached the curve he was unable to navigate the cure hitting the guardrail. Damage up to $5,000.
- 11:02 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, West Main Street, Mentone. Drivers: Bethany Moore, 36, South Franklin Street, Mentone; and James Combs, 59, North Main, Laketon. Moore failed to see Combs’ vehicle behind her as she was backing causing a collision. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 11:36 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Sabrina S. Wright, 59, Souith CR 300E, Claypool; and Megan N. Conley, 35, CR 950S, Silver Lake. Wright was attempting to leave a parking lot, but due to heavy traffic, backed her vehicle to use another exit hitting Conley’s vehicle which was backing from a parking space. Damage up to $5,000.
- 7:08 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, US 30 and CR 150W, Warsaw. Drivers: Timurkhan Gabaev, 30, Arapahoe Street, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Preston L. McFarland, 63, East Hanley Road, Mansfield, Ohio. Gabaev and McFarland had both stopped their semitractor/trailers, when Gabaev’s semitractor/trailer rolled backwards hitting McFarland’s semitractor/trailer. Damage up to $5,000.
- 5:03 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, East Smith Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jennifer L. Stacey, 41, East Lakeview Trail, Leesburg; and Joshua M. Tooley, 39, East Robby Drive, Warsaw. Stacey was backing from a parking space when her vehicle struck Tooley’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 12:33 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, Jalynn Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Stanley D. Strycker, 71, East CR 1250N, Milford; and Dimitrios Margaritidis, 25, East Maple, Frankton. Strycker’s vehicle rolled back from a parking space hitting Margaritidis’ parked vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 11:33 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, Meijer Drive west of US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Griffin Arnett, 27, East Washington Road, Pierceton; and Sandra Nelson-Rowland, 63, North Fascination Way, Cromwell. Arnett was turning his vehicle out of the Panda Express parking lot and Nelson-Rowland was turning her vehicle into the Panda Express parking lot, when Arnett’s vehicle struck Nelson-Rowland’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
