Starke County arrests Culver man on sexual gratification charge

MARSHALL COUNTY — David Paul Howard, 42, Culver, was arrested Friday, July 25, on initial charges of vicarious sexual gratification and obstruction of justice.
At approximately 1:36 a.m. Friday the Marshall County Central dispatch received a call from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department requesting assistance investigating an incident that allegedly took place in the 11,000 block of SR 10, west of Culver. Marshall County Patrolmen Matt Geiger and Robert Williams responded to the residence with First Sgt. Nick Laffoon.
When officers arrived at the scene, they were advised of an alleged incident between a 10-year-old juvenile female and Howard. During the investigation evidence was found that Howell had performed a sex act in the presence of the child.
Preliminary information gathered at the scene also indicated that Howard is believed to have attempted to destroy evidence involved in the incident. He was detained at the scene and later transported to the Starke County Jail.
He was held on $6,000 cash bond.
