NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
On June 21, 2024, the Town of Pierceton applied for a planning grant to use Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-CV) funds, administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), to develop a Master Utility Study covering drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater. The Town was notified on July 15, 2024, by OCRA as a recipient of $90,000 in CDBG funding to develop this plan.
This grant award and the associated plan benefit the community and residents of Pierceton by conducting a thorough study of their public utilities for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater. The purpose is to gain a better understanding of the current conditions and major deficiencies of the utility systems, identify deficiencies experienced by end users, and determine the best solutions to address these challenges. This will ensure the Town continues to provide high-quality utility services to its residents, businesses, and visitors, fostering future community and economic development opportunities.
Approximately 63.9% of the grant funds, totaling $57,510.00, will be used to benefit low-to-moderate income individuals within the community. A 10% matching amount of $10,000.00 from the Town of Pierceton’s ARPA funds will be supplied for the project, resulting in a total project cost of $100,000.00. To select the firm for the Master Utility Study, Pierceton used a Qualification Based Selection (QBS) process, through which Jones Petrie Rafinski was selected to conduct the plan.
The Town of Pierceton will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 6:30 PM EST at the Pierceton Community Building, 105 W Walnut Street, Pierceton, IN 46562. This hearing will be held ahead of their regularly scheduled Town Council meeting and will provide citizens an opportunity to hear a presentation on the findings and recommendations of the Master Utility Study, and share their comments about the Plan prior to seeking approval by the Town Council.
Interested citizens are invited to provide comments regarding this project either at the public hearing or submitted to the Town by prior written statement. Accommodations for individuals with disabilities or with limited English proficiency can be requested at the contact information below.
