KENDALLVILLE — Northeastern Center announces Leah Kathary, a recent graduate of West Noble High School, has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Jane George Scholarship.

The $750 scholarship honors the legacy of Jane George, a dedicated nurse case manager at Northeastern Center who served for more than seven years before passing away from cancer in October 2002. The annual award supports a local student planning to pursue a career in the mental health field.

Kathary plans to attend Wayne State University this fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Her long-term goal is to become a therapist. In her scholarship essay, she shared, “I want to do everything in my power to help people who are not capable of helping themselves. I want to show people that there are options for them and that they do have a future in this world.”

The scholarship was presented by Jeremy Lewis, clinical services director, and Melissa Foulk, staff therapist, in a small ceremony.
