WARSAW — The Zimmer Biomet Veterans Resource Group recently hosted a “Stuff the Bus” donation drive to support the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, collecting much-needed supplies for the shelter’s current population of 246 in-shelter pets and 81 pets in foster care.
The “Stuff the Bus” initiative focused on gathering items from AWL’s wishlist to help provide daily care, comfort, and enrichment for the animals awaiting adoption. The AWL offers sponsored and reduced adoption fees for veterans living in Kosciusko County — an effort strongly supported by Zimmer Biomet and its Veterans Resource Group.
“The Animal Welfare League and the Zimmer Biomet Veterans Resource Group are committed to providing companion pets for veterans,” said Craig Hanes, senior manufacturing engineer at Zimmer Biomet. “During the recent AWL Stuff the Bus event, Zimmer Biomet team members donated items in support of the Animal Welfare League’s wish list. What a great way to support our community and our veterans!”
The Zimmer Biomet VRG aims to honor and support veterans within the company and throughout the community. In addition to local outreach, the group actively recruits individuals with military experience, helping to attract and retain veteran talent across the organization.
“We’re incredibly grateful for our continued partnership with Zimmer Biomet and truly appreciate the generous donations they helped gather for our shelter,” said Brooke Lyon, AWL adoption specialist. “Their ongoing support makes a meaningful difference in the lives of the animals we care for.”
Zimmer Biomet team members across departments showed strong support for the effort. “I would like to recognize the Veterans Resource Group at Zimmer Biomet for coordinating our Stuff the Bus event for the Animal Welfare League, along with all our amazing team members that support AWL,” said Mike Smith, Zimmer Biomet senior director of pricing and AWL board member. “Community support makes it possible to provide the necessary medical care, shelter, and adoption services that our pets deserve. If you are in the market for a pet, please consider adopting — it’s the best gift you can give our shelter pets.”
Angela Krebs of Zimmer Biomet’s human resources team echoed the group’s dedication: “Our Veterans Resource Group believes in giving back to the community. We are honored to support the Animal Welfare League in its mission to protect and care for animals in need, and especially proud to contribute to programs that support veterans through pet companionship, therapy initiatives, and adoption assistance. We look forward to continued efforts through donations and volunteering.”
