COLUMBIA CITY — Donna Ruby, executive assistant for Parkview Whitley Hospital and Parkview Kosciusko Hospital, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Indiana Hospital Association Administrative Professional Excellence Award. The prestigious honor was presented Thursday, recognizing Ruby’s decades of exceptional service and dedication.
Established in 2014, the annual award pays tribute to one outstanding support staff member from among IHA’s member hospitals, celebrating the legacy of Mikell Brown, a longtime administrative assistant in education and communication at IHA.
With 34 years of service at Parkview, Ruby has been a vital member of the team, providing consistent and exemplary support to hospital leadership. Since the expansion of Parkview’s northwest market and the opening of Parkview Kosciusko Hospital, Ruby’s responsibilities have grown—yet her commitment has remained unwavering.
“Donna’s always one step ahead of us and always willing to do whatever is asked,” said Scott Gabriel, market president, Parkview Health Northwest. “Not only is she an incredible partner assisting me in my day-to-day, but she’s long been a champion for all of her co-workers at Parkview Whitley and Parkview Kosciusko hospitals. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this prestigious statewide award.”
In addition to supporting Gabriel and Ashley Wirges, vice president of patient services, Ruby plays an integral role in planning special events and initiatives across the northwest market. She coordinates DAISY Award nominations and helps organize celebrations for Nurses Week and Hospital Week.
