Mentone Man Arrested For Allegedly Battering Woman

MENTONE — A Mentone man previously convicted of battery in January was arrested for allegedly battering a woman.
Dustin James McCarty Jr., 20, 102 Miller Drive Lot 10, Mentone, is charged with domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; and domestic battery with a prior conviction, a level 6 felony.
On July 8, Mentone and Claypool’s town marshals responded to a 911 hangup at a residence. Upon arrival, the Mentone marshal spoke with McCarty, who said he was upset with a woman at the home and accidentally called 911.
According to court documents, the Mentone marshal located the woman, who had a red discoloration above her eyebrow and bruising around her neck.
Officers spoke with the woman, who said McCarty held her down and placed his hand around her throat. She said McCarty was upset because she did not take him to a meeting.
McCarty was previously convicted of battery in Fulton County in January.
McCarty was released on bond on July 14, but failed to appear for his initial hearing on July 17. A warrant has been issued for McCarty’s arrest.
