Weaver, Lantz Crowned Queens At Elkhart County 4-H Fair

GOSHEN — Sherry Weaver of Goshen was crowned the Elkhart County 4-H Fair Senior Queen during opening night festivities Friday, July 18 at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds.
Weaver, who owns Ms. Weaver Insurance, is the widow of Lee Weaver of Nappanee. Together, they raised two children and have three grandchildren.
An active member of her community, Weaver enjoys scrapbooking, cardmaking, teaching, baking and gardening. She also participates in Purdue Extension Homemakers, serves as a substitute teacher, and leads activities at her church. Her career has included time as a history teacher, owner of a gift and craft store, and work at The Goshen News.
Weaver was one of 10 contestants who competed in the Senior Queen contest at Heritage Park. Other contestants included Barbara Bute, Melodie Wise, Teresa Wells, Louanne Gressman-Dunn, Caroline Troyer, Jeanne Dilorenzo, Rosanne Markham, Carol Reed and Lisa Giddens.

Rosanne Markham was named first runner-up, and Louanne Gressman-Dunn was second runner-up. Barbara Bute, of Elkhart and representing Iron Horse Ranch, earned both the Ginny Nichols 4-H Award and Miss Congeniality honors. Caroline Troyer received the Eleanor Morehouse Community Service Award.
Outgoing 2024 Senior Queen Kay Stewart gave a farewell speech during the ceremony, offering parting words of encouragement to the new queen.
Also crowned Friday night was the Elkhart County 4-H Fair Queen, Paige Lantz. Joining Lantz on the Fair Queen Court were first runner-up Sage Risser, second runner-up Olivia Shank, third runner-up Brianna Stark, and fourth runner-up Riley Kitson.
The competition took place on stage at Heritage Park and was hosted by Mary and Brayen Dale.
