MILFORD — Swashbuckling fun and summer heat were the status quo at Milford’s second Food Truck Friday of the season, held 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 11, along Main Street.
Hosted by local nonprofit Meet Milford, the evening featured a pirate-themed “Treasure Island Adventure,” complete with costumed attendees, a community treasure hunt, and live music from local band Beez and the Rocker.
Despite soaring temperatures, families turned out in full force, enjoying cold treats and games.
Nine food trucks served up tacos, barbecue, iced coffee, and more as children roamed the street with eyepatches and hooked hats.
One highlight was a live Jack Sparrow impersonator, played by Ligonier-area performer Dean Speicher, who delighted kids with in-character antics and photo ops.
The night’s treasure hunt, designed by Wawasee student Lincoln Stoller, challenged children to solve Milford-themed trivia clues to unlock a treasure chest of surprise prizes.
“This is exactly what we love to see,” said Meet Milford board member Tricia Gall, referring to the event’s turnout.
Food Truck Fridays run through October on the second Friday of each month. The next event, themed “Summer Beach Party and Street Dance,” will take place 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8.
