ETNA GREEN — A former Etna Green public servant was recognized during the town’s Fourth of July celebration on Friday, July 4.
Pat York, who was the town’s clerk-treasurer for four years, was the grand marshal of the Fourth of July parade.
Jason Hanes, a former town council member himself, York’s great-nephew and one of the organizers of the parade, provided more information on York.

Pat York served as grand marshal of the parade during Etna Green’s Fourth of July celebration on Friday, July 4.
“She’s lived in Etna Green her entire life, all but a few years in Florida,” said Hanes. “She went to Etna Green school for 12 years and graduated from Bourbon, with a diploma reading Tri Township United School.”
Hanes added York was married to her late husband Ron for 51 years and has “many children and grandchildren, some of them who live right in Etna Green.”
He noted she was involved with a club which “brought us the original Fourth of July celebrations in Etna Green.”
“Those of us who remember can tell you that these were extraordinary events,” said Hanes.
He added York is also involved with the Etna Green Lions Club.
