PIERCETON — Sheila Ronk does a variety of tasks to help run Pierceton’s Heirloom Tomato Festival.
Ronk, who’s lived in Pierceton for 23 years, assists with setup, runs the baking contest and writes press releases to publicize the event.
Her husband Robert Ronk also helps her plan the festival’s scavenger hunt.
“It’s a fabulous, fun festival for the town of Pierceton,” she said.
The festival will occur this year on Saturday, Aug. 23.
Sheila Ronk has helped with planning the event for seven years after becoming involved with the Pierceton Chamber of Commerce nine years ago when she opened her business, Homespun House. She’s currently secretary of the chamber.
She said she continues volunteering to put on the event as the town has supported Homespun House.
“The community of Pierceton is very supportive of small businesses, and we want to give back,” said Sheila Ronk.
