General Aluminum has announced the impending closure of its Huntington facility, with 62 employees expected to be laid off permanently.
News Release
HUNTINGTON — General Aluminum Manufacturing Co., an Ohio-based aluminum casings company, is planning to close its Huntington facility. In a notice to the state, the company said the closing would result in the permanent termination of 62 employees.
General Aluminum did not provide a reason for closing the 1345 Henry Street facility. The affected workers are not represented by a union and the company said it would provide COBRA benefits to workers.
According to a WARN notice filed to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, layoffs are expected to begin in stages on Friday, August 29.
According to its website, General Aluminum produces aluminum castings for both the automotive and non-automotive industries.
The company still operates production facilities in the city of Fremont in Steuben County and locations in Ohio and Mexico.
