Warsaw Fire Department Responds to Fire at Residence

WARSAW — At approximately 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, Warsaw Fire Department responded to a single family residence on fire at 1611 E. Center St., Warsaw.
A single occupant and two children were in the home at the time of the fire, but they all escaped with no injuries. The American Red Cross was called to help the two adults and two children in the family find a place to stay.
The home, owned by Aberdeen and Renae E. Ngozi, was a one and a half story wood frame house and heavy black smoke rolled out from three sides of the structure as the fire was extinguished. The fire took about 30 minutes to get under control.
The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
The Warsaw Fire Department was assisted by the Winona Lake Fire Department, Burket Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and the Warsaw Police Department. Manpower assistance was requested from Claypool, Plain Township/Leesburg and Mentone fire departments.
