Kosciusko County

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:

• 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, North CR 300W, north of West CR 1350N, Nappanee. Driver: Derek T. Anderson, 35, Locust Road, South Bend. Anderson was traveling southbound on CR 15 in Elkhart County entering Kosciusko County. For an unknown reason, his vehicle left the roadway to the east. His vehicle hit a street sign and reflective marker on a guardrail and began traveling along the top of the guardrail before falling into the creek onto its roof. A fireman found that Anderson was deceased with his seat belt still on. Damage up to $25,000.

Elkhart County

Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:

• 7:03 p.m. Friday, May 2, CR 7, north of CR 26. Driver: Natalie Hitchcock, 26, Syracuse. Hitchcock’s vehicle went off the roadway hitting a speed limit sign. She suffered minor injuries of a bit tongue. Hitchcock was cited for no insurance and arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of cocaine.
