NASHVILLE — Hard Truth Distilling Co. has partnered with Mellencamp Whiskey Co. — founded by Levi Collison and John Mellencamp’s son, Hud Mellencamp — to release a limited series of collectible sweet mash whiskeys in support and honor of America’s heartland farmers.

“We came together because of our love for the state of Indiana, its natural resources, and the whiskeys it helps produce, said Hard Truth master distiller Bryan Smith in a press release. “The partnership couldn’t be better.”

The collaboration’s latest brew, American Odd, is the last in a series of four whiskeys, with each bottle featuring original artwork by John Mellencamp and a previously unreleased Sweet Mash Bourbon.

This newest release was distilled grain-to-glass by Bryan Smith, using 100% Indiana grains, and aged for 4 years in a prescriptive char and toast combination designed by Independent Stave Co. exclusively for the company’s Sweet Mash Bourbons. This marks the first Bottled-in-Bond collaboration between Hard Truth and Mellencamp Whiskey Co.

Hud Mellencamp added, “Our collaboration with Hard Truth aligns perfectly with our values of supporting local farmers and sourcing high-quality local ingredients. I believe we’ve made some great whiskeys.”

A portion of sales from each bottle will go to support Indiana’s sustainable farming initiatives and local farming families via Grounded in Truth, Hard Truth’s cause platform. Grounded in Truth supports agriculturally focused not-for-profit organizations, like Farm Aid, its first giving partner, that provide resources and support for family farmers.

Bottle Signing To Celebrate Whiskey Release

To celebrate the release of the whiskey, Hard Truth will hold a a meet-and-greet bottle signing with Smith, Hud Mellencamp and Collison 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at the Tours & Tastings Center, 418 Old SR 46,
Nashville. A limited number of collector’s series sets featuring all four Hard Truth x Mellencamp Whiskey Co. whiskeys will be available for purchase on-site including: Harvest Rye, Special Reserve, French Oak Harvest Rye, and the newest, American Odd.

The event will also be offering a special Old Fashioned Master Class – Mellencamp Weekend featuring a unique twist on the old fashioned, using American Odd. Classes can be booked here.

After the meet-and-greet, live music will be playing from 3-9 p.m. with a special performance by Michelle Robinson 7-9 p.m. Cocktails, food, and samples of the newest release will be available around the property. Attendance for the meet-and-greet and the live music is free.
