Teen flown to hospital after car vs. bicycle crash

ELKHART COUNTY — Delilah Schrock, 14, Goshen was airlifted to South Bend Memorial after her bicycle was struck by a car at CR 42 and CR 33, north of Syracuse Monday evening, April 14. The crash occurred at 5:55 p.m.
Schrock sustained injuries to her face, left ankle and left shoulder.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office reports Stetson Schmucker, 17, Syracuse, was traveling west on CR 42 in a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, when it collided with Schrock’s bicycle. Schrock was also going westbound.
The bicycle became stuck under the truck and was dragged. When Schmucker stopped and exited his vehicle, he found Schrock in the grass. Schrock was conscious and breathing before being transported to the hospital.
Police report neither drugs or alcohol appeared to be a contributing factor. Sheriff deputies are investigating the crash and looking into enforcement action.
