KNOXVILLE, TENN. — When you think about the most expensive neighborhood in Indiana, does Syracuse come to mind? HGTV made a list of the priciest neighborhoods in every state in the United States, and Syracuse is the community to make the cut for Hoosiers.

Syracuse is a small town of around 3,000 residents, but set on Syracuse Lake and so close to Lake Wawasee, outdoor recreation on the lakes provides fun for all. From fishing to swimming to boating, as well as hiking and cycling along the lakes, it is easy to see why people choose to own lakeside property. The beautiful lakefront homes can have a hefty price tag, with the average being $1,242,916 for a home on the shore. Larger homes can be double or triple the average price, closer to $4 million.

In Illinois the town of Glencoe has the most expensive homes, set on the shore of Lake Michigan. Mount Adams, Ohio is the most affluent there, a neighborhood within yet above Cincinnati. As for Michigan, the most expensive town is Lakeside on the southwest side of Lake Michigan, home to historic architecture and around 300 residents.
