Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 3:57 p.m. Sunday, April 13, North Fox Farm Road, east of North CR 200W, Warsaw. Driver: Enrique Marquez, 56, Rosemont Avenue, Warsaw. Marquez’s vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $2,500.
- 1:12 a.m. Sunday, April 13, East Old Road 30, at North CR 650E, Pierceton. Driver: Tayler D. Judy, 34, East Walnut Street, Akron. Judy slammed on his brakes to avoid a deer. His brakes locked up, and his vehicle went off the roadway and spun. Judy was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for operating while intoxicated. Damage up to $10,000.
- 2:32 p.m. Saturday, April 12, SR 14, east of Packerton Road, Silver Lake. Driver: Jonathan S. Harper, 37, East Jefferson Street, Columbia City. Harper said while descending a hill on his motorcycle the rear wheel locked up, causing him to lose control and be ejected. Harper had significant head, arm and leg injuries and was flown to Lutheran Hospital. Damage up to $10,000.
- 12:38 p.m. Friday, April 11, EMS T17A Lane, east of EMS T18 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Kasim Ponjevic, 52, Barnsley Cove, Fort Wayne. Ponjevic was backing up his vehicle and didn’t see the overhead wires, His vehicle collided with them, causing a pole to lean. Damage up to $10,000.
- 10:17 p.m. Friday, April 11, North CR 475E, at East CR 300N, Warsaw. Driver: Jo Eccles, 42, EMS B42D Lane, Leesburg. Eccles’ vehicle hit a deer. Damage under $1,001.
- 5:58 p.m. Friday, April 11, East Old Road 30, at North CR 650E, Pierceton. Driver: Lezli Payne Welge, 48, EMS B33A Lane, Warsaw. Payne Welge’s dog started choking on a pizza crust, causing her to focus on him and drive into a field. Damage up to $2,500.
