PLAINFIELD — In Wabash County, Duke Energy plans to clear vegetation overgrowth along several high-voltage power lines using a specialty contract helicopter tree trimming crew.
On or about Tuesday, April 15, the workers will use an aerial saw to side-trim trees and vegetation along power line corridors in Mississinewa, Lagro, and Wabash
Trimming may take up to three days to complete, depending on weather conditions.
The project will help ensure safe, reliable service for communities in the region, in which rugged and remote terrain results in hard-to-reach locations for regular trimming crews. Federal regulations mandate that key power transmission line corridors be free of vegetation that might interfere with safely operating and maintaining those power lines.
Property owners along the corridors have been notified by mail, in person or via a door hanger. All areas where the helicopter will work have been clearly flagged and marked in advance of trimming. If you have questions about the project, call Duke Energy Vegetation Management at (800) 723-9684 or visit duke-energy.com/trees for more information on Duke Energy Indiana and its programs and policies.
