News Release
SYRACUSE — Syracuse Public Library’s In the Garden group will host a Becky’s Garden workday at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the Community Roots outdoor space. Anyone is welcome to help. The library has some gardening tools for the cleanup, but helpers can bring their own from home, along with gardening gloves.
Besides the workday, it’ll be a great opportunity to learn about the monthly nature walks In the Garden will embark on starting in May.
Library Holiday Closing
SPL will be closed Friday, April 18, in observance of Good Friday.
Upcoming Programs
Players of all skill levels — including learners — are invited to SPL’s mahjong tables at 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the downstairs meeting room.
The Workshop, the library’s adult writing group, will meet from 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the downstairs meeting room. The group will focus on showing versus telling with writing exercises.
Preschoolers can attend story time at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday in April. During each session, children enjoy stories, playtime and a craft while learning about the alphabet. The aim is for children to have a head start when they head to school.
The home-school class also meets at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the downstairs meeting room, and children will continue their micro-nations unit.
The young adult game night meets from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. Each month, the group samples new board and card games. This month, teens will try “Dairyman.” Players will become dairymen, milking fresh milk every day and working hard to fulfill the orders given by the farm owner before the milk spoils. Snacks will be provided for players.
