Culp To Announce Candidacy For Elkhart County Sheriff

GOSHEN — Capt. Mike Culp, a 20-plus-year veteran of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, will announce his candidacy for sheriff at an event Saturday, April 19.
Culp’s campaign will host a campaign launch rally at 10:30 a.m. that day on the steps of the Elkhart County Courthouse in downtown Goshen.
Culp, who will be seeking the Republican nomination for sheriff in the 2026 election cycle, will share his vision for the office of sheriff, his experience and also announce key support from the community.
Media, supporters and those wishing to learn more are all welcome to attend.
Culp has more than 14 years of division command-level experience as the patrol division commander at the sheriff’s office and in his current role as the commander of the administrative services division. He has served as coordinator for the Elkhart County Traffic Safety Partnership for 11 years. During his patrol days, Culp was an operator with the Emergency Services Unit (now a component of Elkhart County Regional SWAT) as a precision marksman, perimeter element leader and later as the overall tactical team commander.
Culp was born and raised just south of New Paris and is a lifelong resident of Elkhart County. He has been married to his wife, Angela, for 24 years. They have three children and are members of Nappanee Missionary Church.
