‘A Taste Of Agriculture’ In Kosciusko County Returns April 15
News Release
WARSAW — The entire community is invited to celebrate the diversity of Kosciusko County agriculture at “A Taste of Agriculture in Kosciusko County: A Family Affair.”
The free, family-friendly event will take place from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds, 1400 E. Smith St., Warsaw.
Expect to find lots of locally produced food, grocery card giveaways, games, door prizes and farm animals to visit.
The goal of the evening program is to provide an interactive educational opportunity for both youth and adults to learn about agriculture in Kosciusko County. Those attending will have the chance to visit many booths and taste samples of the various products grown in Kosciusko County. Other booths will be offered by groups that do not produce a food commodity, but they will offer an activity to participate in or animals to visit.
Visitors will have the opportunity to taste ice cream, cheese, popcorn, beef, eggs, salsa and chips, and much more. On display will be more than 20 different booths representing agriculture in the county. Booths participating include beef, dairy, swine, ducks, chickens, crops, soil and water quality, farm machinery, 4-H, Master Gardeners, rabbits, FFA, horses, Farm Service Agency and Farm Bureau.
A Taste of Agriculture is celebrating its 24th anniversary. Organizers will be giving out $1,500 in grocery gift certificates and more than $1,000 in other door prizes. This includes product or gift certificates of varying amounts for locally produced products such as soy candles, beef, pork, dairy and duck, and popular T-shirts will also be included in the celebration.
Several activities will be offered for kids. The children’s 4-H activity corner will be present that evening. Come learn about 4-H in Kosciusko County through interactive games, the project and activities 4-H can offer, and the science, technology, engineering and math and robotics programs the organization is currently offering. The Wawasee FFA will be hosting a pedal pull. Registration starts at 5 p.m. for children ages 5-10. Prizes will be awarded for the top finishers in each age division. The pedal pull will be held in the Show Arena at 5:30 p.m. Families can work together on a scavenger hunt to find answers to questions relating to agriculture. Children who participate will receive a prize.
A Taste of Agriculture is sponsored by the Kosciusko County Agriculture Awareness Committee, Extension Office, Farm Bureau, County Community Foundation and supported by the Kosciusko County Community Fair.
