PLYMOUTH — A Plymouth man was arrested for allegedly failing to update information for his lifetime sex offender registry requirements.
Denny Jesus Perez-Cardenas, 27, 2535 N. Michigan St. Room 2, Plymouth, is charged with three counts of failure to register as a sex offender, all level 6 felonies.
On Jan. 24, Perez-Cardenas went to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office to complete his first initial registration as a sex offender. He listed his address as a local hotel.
According to court documents, Perez-Cardenas was convicted of child solicitation in July 2018 in Marshall County. He has a lifetime requirement to register in-person as a sex offender annually.
On Feb. 18, Perez-Cardenas went to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office to register new employment, indicating he started work on Feb. 14.
During the week of March 3, Perez-Cardenas called the sheriff’s office and left a voice message saying he had changed the room he resided in. Officials returned Perez-Cardenas’ phone call and told him he was required to come to the office in-person and sign change forms, which he allegedly never did.
On March 19, a Marshall County officer called Perez-Cardenas at his listed phone number and received a message indicating the phone does not receive calls. The officer made contact with parole, who said Perez-Cardenas had an unregistered phone number for quite a while.
On March 20, the officer contacted Perez-Cardenas’ employer, who said Perez-Cardenas had separated his employment on March 8. He failed to alert the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office about this change as well.
Perez-Cardenas was booked in the Marshall County Jail on March 20.
