WABASH COUNTY — To ensure that Junior Achievement BizTown is available to students in fifth and sixth grade, Duke Energy Foundation has given a financial donation to Junior Achievement of Wabash County.
Each year across the county, JA BizTown reaches more than 275 students, teaching students lessons in financial literacy, work and career readiness, entrepreneurship and civic responsibility through a hands-on, immersive experience that brings classroom learning to life.
Grant funds will be used to support the following schools in Wabash County:
- St. Bernard Elementary School, one class-will attend Friday, April 11.
- Wabash Middle School, five classes-will attend Friday, May 2.
- Manchester Intermediate School, four classes-will attend Thursday, May 15.
- Sharp Creek, five classes previously attended Thursday, Dec. 19.
JA BizTown combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. This learning experience allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.
“Junior Achievement of Wabash County works to ensure every donation is used to provide programs that reinforce student learning and integrates seamlessly into the curriculum of our community’s schools. Donors like Duke Energy Foundation are valuable JA partners,” says Junior Achievement of Wabash County Board of Directors Ben McFarland.
