Honor Flight Northeast Indiana To Take 50th Flight

FORT WAYNE — The nonprofit Honor Flight Northeast Indiana will be in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, April 23 for its 50th flight.
The full flight sponsor is Phil’s One Stop, marking its fourth Honor Flight full flight sponsorship. It has raised over $500,000 for Honor Flight.
Owners Lenny and Phil Carper have said they feel blessed to be able to serve and honor those who have made sacrifices for the freedoms others enjoy. Phil’s One Stop sent a letter of thanks to employees, suppliers and customers involved in supporting flight HFNEI 50.
Over 3,500 veterans have been taken by Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to visit memorials and monuments honoring their service.
The flight is planned to transport 84 veterans, with one Lebanon and Granada veteran, two Korean War veterans, 14 Cold War veterans and 67 Vietnam war veterans. One of the flight’s veterans has received a Bronze Star, while another received two Purple Hearts.
For those who would like to attend the Welcome Home Celebration in honor of veterans who have returned, arrive at Fort Wayne International Airport by 8 p.m. and park in the long-term parking lot.
