WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly telling a woman he battered to not appear as a witness in his jury trial.
Nicky Lee Blair, 45, 340 E. Levi Lee Road Lot 202, Warsaw, is charged with obstruction of justice, a level 6 felony; and invasion of privacy, a class A misdemeanor.
On May 14, 2024, a Warsaw Police officer arrested Blair on battery charges. The next day, a no-contact order was served to Blair, ordering him to have no direct or indirect contact with the female victim he battered.
According to court documents, on Aug. 29, 2024, the officer served the victim with a summons to appear for a jury trial scheduled for Sept. 5, 2024, in Blair’s battery case.
After the summons was served, Blair and the victim spoke on the phone while Blair was incarcerated in the Kosciusko County Jail. When the victim told Blair about the summons she received, Blair told her she did not need to attend court and to avoid work.
He told the woman the matter was civil in nature and that she should report to the doctor or emergency room in lieu of attending court proceedings. During his conversation with the woman, Blair’s tone was belligerent and hostile.
The jury trial for Blair’s battery case was scheduled for Sept. 5, 2024, and the woman failed to appear as summoned. It was determined the woman was also absent from work on that date.
On that date, Blair entered a guilty plea to battery resulting in moderate bodily injury. He received a 2 1/2 year suspended sentence.
Blair was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on March 21, 2025.
