Informational Meeting Regarding Potential Wabash County Carbon Capture Plant Is Thursday
Staff Report
WABASH — An informational meeting regarding a potential carbon capture plant in Wabash County will be on Thursday, March 20.
The public is welcome to attend the event at 6 p.m. at Northfield Junior-Senior High School, 154 W. 200N, Wabash.
Wabash County Area Plan Commission Director Brian Campbell said county leaders organized the meeting to inform people of what the potential project could entail. Such a plant would transport carbon dioxide below ground.
He reiterated that no decisions would be made at the meeting. He said leaders will decide in the future whether to impose a temporary prohibition on such projects while they craft an ordinance regulating them in the county.
Campbell said those decisions could come up at the Wabash County Area Plan Commission’s next regular meeting set for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3. APC meetings normally take place at the Wabash County Courthouse, but Campbell said the meeting could be moved to a location with more space if a large crowd is expected.
