SEYMOUR — RR Donnelley, a Chicago-based international company, is planning to close its 96-employee Freeman Field Industrial Park at 709 A Ave. East, Seymour. The company told state officials in a notice that the closing begins Wednesday, May 14 and should take two weeks to complete.
Seymour’s Freeman Field is a full-service web printer of products such as magazine insertions, direct mail packages and personalized coupons, says RR Donnelley’s website.
The print, marketing, packing and supply chain services provider did not give a reason for the closure.
In its Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Notice filed to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, layoffs are planned to begin 11 days before the closure on May. 3. They are expected to be permanent, with no separation benefits given to the workers. Employees at Freeman Field are not union-represented.
A 2022 Seymour Tribune report said a $654,000 tax abatement was approved by Seymour City Council for new IT and manufacturing items.
