INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis’ Indiana State Fairgrounds are turning from a summer destination to a year-long attraction.
The 250-acre property, which hosts around 400 events a year, is hosting events such as this weekend’s NCAA Division II Track and Field Championship at the Fall Creek Pavilion from Thursday, March 13 to Saturday, March 15.
More than 1,000 people are annually employed by the fairgrounds, helping run events like Indianapolis’ Home Show and Mecum Auction.
43 NCAA postseason college basketball games are happening during this year’s Indianapolis March Madness. Additionally, Fall Creek Pavilion is hosting the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championship.
Attendance for last year’s Indiana State Fair was 854,236 over 15 days. Nearly 50,000 animal and non-animal projects were shown by more than 10,000 exhibitors and youth competitors.
The World Food Championships also announced their return to the fairgrounds Thursday, October 16-Sunday, October 19. Its 2024 Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion competition saw 300 teams, with 1,200 competitors and chefs from over 30 countries and 35 states.
