Kosciusko Special Olympics Athletes Shine At Hoop Special

WARSAW — The skills, 3×3 and 5×5 teams for Special Olympics of Kosciusko County traveled to Taylor University on Feb. 22 to participate in the Take it to the Hoop Special Olympics basketball tournament.
The results for the skills team were: Billie Holtz, gold; Wayne Momeyer, gold; Norm McPeak, gold; Andrew Slabaugh, gold; Adam Little, silver; Steve Troyer, silver; James Gilleand, silver; Tyce Hoover, silver; Wally Holtz, bronze; Crystal Redman, bronze; Rachel Matthews, bronze; and Derrick Dausman, bronze.
The 3×3 team consisted of Izzi Dawson, Sabrina Turner, Morgan Swafford, Andy Heeter, Chris Cole and Kayce Joines. Izzi and Sabrina were presented with sportsmanship awards. They faced the Wabash Timberwolves and won 22-14. They also defeated the Huntington Raiders, 20-4.
The 5×5 team consisted of Kevin McPeak, Amy Philson, Matt Bammell, Isaiah Tessereau, Kyle Cripe, Zeus Leonard, Timothy Warner-Guile, Knick Fletcher and Seth Seitzler. Isaiah, Timothy and Knick were presented with sportsmanship awards. They played Madison Magic and won, 33-21. They also defeated the Wayne Pacers, 30-12.
All teams will participate next in basketball sectionals at Manchester University on Saturday, March 22.
