ETNA GREEN — A Kosciusko County Councilman has died in an accidental drowning.

Kosciusko County Deputies and emergency personnel responded at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, to an unresponsive male in a ditch suffering from a medical emergency. Emergency personnel arrived on scene to a property at 375 N. 950W, Etna Green in Harrison Township and determined the male was deceased.

The male was identified as Michael W. Long, 64, Etna Green. Preliminary investigation determined the male was checking fields on property owned by the Long family. Long was located near a ditch line where evidence indicates Long accidentally drowned.

Long was pronounced deceased by Kosciusko County Coroner Tyler Huffer.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Etna Green Fire Department, Atwood Fire Department, Department of Natural Resources, Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County 911 Dispatch and Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
