WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly battering a woman.
Daniel Christopher Thornton, 46, 470 Clinic Court, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; and domestic battery with a prior conviction, a level 6 felony.
On Feb. 18, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a domestic complaint at a residence. A woman said Thornton hit her face during an argument.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officer learned Thornton had an active warrant for his arrest for nonsupport of a child.
According to court documents, the woman said she and Thornton were arguing when Thornton allegedly hit her in the face once with his hand. The officer noticed redness on the woman’s face and upper neck area.
Thornton said he and the woman were arguing, but he denied hitting her. A portable breath test showed Thornton had a 0.36 BrAC. Due to his level of intoxication, Thornton was taken to a local hospital, where he was medically cleared.
Thornton was previously convicted of domestic battery in Elkhart County in April 2020.
Thornton was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 18.
